Anti ULEZ supporting the L2B run

Anti-ULEZ supports the London to Brighton Veterans

The last London to Brighton Mini Run happened in 2023 due to the expansion of ULEZ to outer London but the Veteran Car Run is still going regardless. Of course most of the cars involved are old enough to avoid ULEZ but the event reminds us of all the joys of motoring.

This event is a good time to remember all those old cars that were scrapped in the lead up to ULEZ, some that could have become the classics and veterans of the future.

The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is something of a British tradition, especially for those who live near, or were brought up along, the route. We fondly remember sitting or standing in all weathers watching them go past giving them a wave of encouragement. This is one tradition we hope will keep going and you can see how much care and attention has been lavished on these old cars.

One of our most enthusiastic campaigners, himself the owner of a particular old vehicle, decided it was time to show the veterans and the spectators some special Anti-ULEZ support so arranged a meeting somewhere along the route – it was up to us to find him, and we did. He had found a prominent position with plenty of parking and many other Anti-ULEZ supporters joined the event to cheer and wave the old cars (and bikes) on as they drove past.

We were all heartened by the amount of support we got out there over two years since the expansion started. Whilst we haven’t stopped ULEZ we know many people are still on our side and with PayPerMile on the way – will these hardy veterans be paying 78 miles worth next time?
